On the dunes In and around Wijk aan Zee

Wijk aan Zee is located on the Noordhollands Duinreservaat, which with 5,300 hectares is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. The dunes provide protection against the sea, play an essential role in drinking water purification, and form a precious nature and recreational area. In the densely populated North Holland, the dune area also fulfills an indispensable recreational function.

The dunes are a wonderful place to discover on foot or by bike. Enjoy it!

Bunker tour With starting point in our hotel

A special bunker tour is organized every 4th Sunday of the month. Strandhotel Het Hoge Duin is the starting point of this tour. It starts at 11:30 A.M., and the tour lasts approximately 3 hours. Admission is € 12.00 per person, including consumption.

Huis van Hilde In Castricum

'Het Huis van Hilde' is a museum that focuses on the archeology and history of North Holland. The museum offers temporary exhibitions, lectures, and special holiday programs.

'Het Huis van Hilde' opened its doors in January 2015 as the Province of Noord-Holland Archeology Center. The centre was immediately a success, both with the general public and in the media. 'Het Huis van Hilde' was even nominated for the prestigious European Museum of the Year Award.

Welkom in Haarlem City trip

There is much to do in Haarlem all year round. The capital of the province of Noord-Holland is known for its attractive cultural offer, many shops, and lively restaurants and cafes. Beautiful monumental buildings bear witness to a rich history, ideal for a day out or a city trip.

Visiting tips:

  • Visit the Grote or Sint Bavokerk. This beautiful late Gothic medieval cross basilica towers high above the city.
  • A working brewery in the Jopenkerk, where you can visit the grand café, taproom, and restaurant.
  • The Teylers Museum. Discover the wonders of art and science in Teylers Museum, the oldest museum in the Netherlands. Art by famous masters, million-old fossils, precious books, and ingenious instruments.

De Bazaar In Beverwijk

The Bazaar is a combination of shops, outlets, and stalls with products from all parts of the world. On Fridays, De Bazaar is partly open from 13:00: the fresh market, a few outlets, and the large outdoor terrace with world cuisine.

All shops are open on Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM. The food stands are open until 7:30 PM.
